The Bulls standout is the first British player to be picked to play in the annual NBA All-Star Game.

In reaction to the honour bestowed on the UK’s most successful basketball player, British Consul General Robert Chatterton Dickson said:

“On behalf of the British Government and the British Consulate-General here in Chicago, I extend my congratulations to Luol Deng, who has already had a tremendous season this winter. The United Kingdom isn’t necessarily thought of as a bastion of basketball talent, but Luol’s prominence within the NBA and as a leader of the UK’s national basketball team has elevated British interest in the sport.”
