More than 300 wounded Marines, Marine veterans and international Marines are participating in the second annual Marine Corps Trials this week at Camp Pendleton in California.
A team of 13 British Royal Marines and 4 support staff are competing with other over 300 international Marines at the event hosted by the Wounded Warrior Regiment. The event includes individual and team competition in seated volleyball, wheelchair basketball, swimming, cycling, shooting, archery, and track and field. The international team, the Allied Team, will have military athletes from six other nations, including Canada, France, Australia, Germany, Columbia, and the Netherlands. Each team will be coached by Olympic standard disabled coaches in all the disciplines.
The British Royal Marines will compete in swimming, cycling, track and field, archery, and seated volleyball.
