British and American schoolchildren celebrate UK food and culture
The British Embassy and the US State Department hosted a special event for British and American students to celebrate UK food and culture.
American students from Stoddert Elementary School in Washington, DC, and British children visited the Ambassador’s Residence for afternoon tea, where they learned how to make British treats like scones, shortbread cookies and fairy cakes. The children also participated in a Skype conversation with students from the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson school in Islington, the school First Lady Michelle Obama visited during her and President Obama’s State Visit to the UK last year.
