“Be not afraid of greatness”

As the World Shakespeare Festival - part of the London 2012 Festival - kicks off today, amateur thespians from across the UK will be celebrating ‘The Bard’ through the Royal Shakespeare Company’s (RSC) Open Stages.

This project is helping create a lasting cultural legacy through the work of England’s most iconic writer. 
 
The RSC’s Artistic Director Michael Boyd said: “The RSC wants to lead a step change in the relationship with the amateur sector; to celebrate its rich traditions, open our doors to its work and collaborate with partners nationally to leave a significant legacy.”
 
Produced by the RSC, the Festival is the biggest celebration of Shakespeare ever staged with over 70 productions, supporting events and exhibitions, right across the UK.
